The Hearts and Crosses coverlet is a beautiful piece of late Victorian patchwork in The Quilters Guild Collection.  With contrasting stripes running in alternate directions and delicate applique to the borders this is a great quilt for using up scarps or by starting fresh with a jelly roll.

Why not adapt it to your own quilting style as Sue Jenkins has (see images) with improv crosses and quilted hearts instead of applique.
