Join us to make a Tilly and the Buttons , an ultra-comfy sweatshirt or sweater dress with a relaxed shape, crew neckline and classic trim details. Keep it effortless with cuffed, straight sleeves, or add some drama with on-trend balloon sleeves and deep cuffs.

In this two-part workshop, you'll learn how to sew a sweatshirt or sweater dress, including how to:

• Measure the body accurately to create a perfect fit
  
• Work from a commercial pattern, including size selection, deciphering instructions, cutting from paper pattern pieces, and more
• Understand garment sewing basics such as proper fabric prep, pinning, cutting, ironing and troubleshooting
• Sew heavier weight stretchy knit fabrics on a standard home sewing machine (not a serger)
• Sew sleeve cuffs and a crew neck 
• Sew balloon sleves

This is a two-part workshop taking place on the following dates:

Wednesday 1/29 and Wednesday 2/5 at 6:30-9:30pm

Skill Requirements:

Suitable for confident beginners. Please note this is not a learn-to-sew class. Students must have basic machine sewing knowledge and be comfortable using a sewing machine. 

Required Materials:

Materials needed for class are available to be purchased at our shop in person or online as a local pick up order at a 10% student discount. Please note, within 24 hrs of registering for the workshop, you will receive the discount code for the materials needed. The pattern and materials are not included in registration fee. For the pants you will need: 

• 2 - 4.5 yards (depending on your size and pattern view chosen) of medium weight knit fabric with at least 20% stretch, such as , , or  Please note, the balloon sleeves can be a bit difficult to sew with bulkier fabrics like our black and grey sweatshirt fleece. We are here to help, just be ready for slight challenge. :)
• A spool of matching all-purpose 
• Optional: Ribbing (at least 70cm / 27 1/2in wide) for cuffs etc. if main fabric has less than 20% stretch

Cost: $165 includes 6 hours of instruction, and use of our BERNINA sewing machines. Does NOT include fabric or pattern-- All required materials will be available for purchase during class at a 10% discount.
